Fix it Fridays is a popular monthly event run from Whittlesea Community House where members of the community meet face-to-face with local legal and community support services to resolve their issues – and more.

In this webinar, Mary-Lynn Griffith, manager of Whittlesea Community House and the brains behind Fix It Friday, will share her experience in bringing multiple services together under one roof to respond to the needs of her community. You’ll learn how Fix it Fridays teases out the interconnected legal problems people are facing and makes a real difference in their lives – all with a cup of tea and a scone!

Drawing from examples of people who have presented at Fix It Friday    – Mary-Lynn will step through the details such as:

  • what encourages services to participate
  • the best way to engage people who are bringing their problems
  • how to support people to connect with a range of services.

Meeting need, where people are

Our Public Understanding of Law Survey research shows that 66% of people don’t recognise their problem as legal and that problems often cluster and spread, leading to more problems and compounding levels of stress.

We also know that, when faced with a civil legal problem, 29% of people look for support from non-legal services, such as government, council bodies and community organisations.

This webinar will share insights to deliver programs and fulfil the critical role organisations such as Neighbourhood Houses play in supporting people with their legal problems.
