The importance of Law Week

Victoria Law Foundation hosted the Law Week Launch at County Court

On Wednesday 10 May the Victoria Law Foundation hosted the Law Week Launch at County Court, officially opening the 2017 festival.

Guests heard from foundation Executive Director, Joh Kirby, Chief Judge Peter Kidd SC, County Court of Victoria, Victoria Legal Aid Managing Director, Bevan Warner, and Cr Jackie Watts, City of Melbourne. The Djirri Djirri Dance Group also performed an Indigenous Welcome Dance to commemorate the occasion.

All four of the guest speakers spoke about the importance of law in our community and how Law Week helps to encourage engagement and improve understanding of the legal system.

Law Week 2017 runs from 15 to 21 May.
