Increased funding to build capability and respond to legal need

This year we have streamlined our grant offering with new processes, eligibility criteria and project timelines. This includes replacing our Knowledge Grants and Community Legal Grants with a single Major Grant round.

We understand that the cost of delivering projects that make a real and sustainable difference is growing. That's why we have also increased the amount of funding for each grant.

Major Grants

From 1 July 2024, our new Major Grants will offer up to $100,000 for projects that help organisations better understand and respond to the legal needs and capabilities of Victorians.

Major Grants can be used to fund civil legal projects that:

  • develop a new understanding through the collection and use of data
  • strengthen systems and capabilities to collect, understand and use data
  • develop new approaches to help the community understand their legal issues and access the help they need.

Applications are open to:

  • community legal organisations
  • community organisations with an internal legal service
  • community organisations in partnership with a legal service.

Major Grants are open between 1 July 2024 – 2 September 2024.
